Planning Law

How can we help you?

Planning law and procedure can affect your ability to obtain best value from property and can constrain the way you carry on business. This area has changed dramatically over the last two years and our Planning Division can work with you to achieve your objectives within the framework of the legislation.

Development proposals can generate conflict and conflict can be costly, disruptive and time consuming. Taking specialist legal advice at an early stage will ensure that you can avoid conflict where possible. Where it is not, it can ensure that you move as fast and as effectively as possible through the conflict resolution procedures.

Our Head of the Planning Division is a co-author of Scottish Planning Law & Procedure published under the auspices of the Scottish Universities' Law Institute in December 2001. The book was described by one reviewer as of 'extraordinarily high quality' and by another as 'the authoritative text on Scottish Planning Law'. She is also co-author of Compulsory Purchase and Compensation: the Law in Scotland published in 2003.
